Regular screening of Germ-Free animals is crucial for research requiring a complete absence of bacterial interactions within these animals. The main advantage of our Bacteriology service lies in its ability to identify viable bacterial growth within the provided sample, and it does so at a relatively low cost. However, it's important to note that certain bacteria, like Helicobacter spp., are more challenging to culture. In such cases, the more sensitive PCR screening proves to be a more practical choice.
We strongly recommend utilising all available tools to obtain the clearest understanding of your animals' condition. The combination of both Bacteriology and PCR services consistently yields the most reliable and unambiguous insight into the status of your animals.
